Hi! Loved this cast, as I do most of them. (Useful tip on the FB algorithm. Thx!) My favorite part was the knock on “Booth Babes” – because YES, you are right – total hypocrisy. But… gotta draw your attention to the fact that Gillette ad is a stunt. Why? Because if they really believed in women, they would not charge a “pink tax” on women’s shaving products. Next time you are at the store – look at the price difference between your razors and the women’s. They are not different products. They do have different markets – and the women’s market makes less (78% on the dollar) and pays more for the same product (let’s not talk about dry cleaning prices). So, instead of an ad, if they meant it – they would’ve changed pricing. They don’t but they wanted to look relevant and raise the commentary profile. They did. Mission accomplished without real change. (And you are right, in the end, it is only an ad.)
You make an excellent point, one of our co-workers filled us in on the pink tax just last month. I’ll see if we can get that into follow up next time we record.
